GOODNIGHT BAPTIST CHURCH BYLAWS

ARTICLE I NAME

The Name of this organization is Goodnight Baptist Church with location at 1910 Goodnight Ct., Granbury, Texas.

ARTICLE II PURPOSE

Section 1. Purpose

We exist to proclaim Christ, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone complete in Christ. To this end we labor, struggling with all the Lord’s energy which so powerfully works in us (Colossians 1:28-29).

Section 2. Mission

Our mission is to go and make disciples of all people, to identify them as such by baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and to teach them to obey everything that Christ has commanded us (a restatement of Matthew 28: 19-20).

Section 3. Vision

The following are the key vision statements for Goodnight Baptist Church:

Authentic Worship – We practice Christ-centered worship, glorifying the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Biblical Literacy and Spiritual Growth – Through the use of spiritual disciplines and biblical studies, we will equip the people of God for every good work of ministry and discipleship by promoting deepening personal relationships with Jesus Christ.
Evangelism – We are committed to sharing the gospel by equipping disciples to engage all people individually and with coordinated efforts as a church body. We build relationships with people where they are – on our campus, in our community and throughout the world with the intent to lead them to a loving relationship with Jesus Christ.
Outward Service – We believe God calls the church to be a constant reminder of what is good and true. Led by the Holy Spirit, we seek to respond to the needs God places before us locally and globally, using resources wisely and servants who are passionate, caring and equipped.
Grounds – Use and maintenance of the grounds will also be used for recreational purposes for the benefit of the local community and our group of local churches all for the Glory of Jesus Christ.

Section 4. Church Member Covenant

Members of Goodnight Baptist Church will covenant to accept and embrace our purpose, mission and vision by serving faithfully using their spiritual gifts, loving each other and promoting church unity as Christ commands, supporting the church financially through giving, by worshipping and attending together, sharing the gospel and praying for one another.

ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Membership

Any person presenting themselves for membership must profess faith in the lord Jesus Christ. Memberships are approved by the Pastor. Membership can be terminated at the request of the member or by the Pastor.

ARTICLE IV

DUTIES OF THE PASTOR, TRUSTEE BOARD AND MINISTERIAL STAFF

Section 1.

The church should have: a Pastor, a Trustee Board and other ministerial staff as needed.

Section 2. Pastor

The Pastor is responsible for inspiring spiritual growth and unity of the body and is also responsible for the welfare and oversight of the church. The Pastor is an ex officio member of all organizations and teams and may call a special meeting of any leadership team, support team, ministry team or any other organization withing the church. The Pastor is responsible for overseeing and leading scheduled worship services, administration and ministering to the spiritual needs of the members of the church and the community. The Pastor is responsible for providing a worship leader or guest speaker when absent from any worship service. The Pastor is the chairman of the Board of Trustees and has a spending approval limit of $500.

Section 3. Trustees

Responsibilities: The Trustees are responsible for all contractual and legal obligations of the church, risk management, and oversee all business-related activities. The Trustees are responsible for maintaining the Church Bylaws and proposed Bylaw changes. A majority approval of the Board of Trustees is necessary for purchases over $500.
Qualification and Selection: There shall be 5 Trustees. Trustees should have the skills and experience necessary to oversee church financial, facility and personnel matters, and should be financially stable, well tenured and respected within the church, and spiritually mature. Trustee Board vacancies are to be filled by the recommendation of the Pastor and subsequent approval by a majority of the Board of Trustees.

The 5 Trustees are selected as follows:

Senior Pastor Granbury Baptist Church
Senior Pastor Rivers Church, Glen Rose
Senior Pastor Pecan Baptist Church
Pastor Goodnight Baptist Church
Additional Trustees shall be residents of Goodnight Ct., Granbury Texas and/or members of the Lehrman or Behrens families.

Section 4. Ministry Staff

The ministerial staff of the church report to the Pastor and will lead and fulfill ministerial duties as outlined by the Pastor. Ministry Leaders are selected by the Pastor and can be removed by the Pastor.

ARTICLE V

SELECTION OF SENIOR PASTOR, MINISTRY STAFF AND SUPPORT STAFF

Section 1. Selection of the Pastor

The Pastor of Goodnight Baptist Church is selected by a majority vote of the Board of Trustees.

Section 2. Pastor Resignation/Termination

Termination of the Pastor is by resignation or majority vote of the Board of Trustees.

ARTICLE VI CHURCH YEAR

Section 1.

The church fiscal and leadership team election year is January 1 through December 31.

ARTICLE VII CHURCH MEETINGS

Section 1.

The church will conduct regularly scheduled worship services.

Section 2.

The Annual Church Conference meeting will consist of a presentation of expenditures, donations, current projects and projects for the following year.

ARTICLE VIII AMENDMENTS

Section 1.

These bylaws may be amended by a majority vote of the Trustee Board.

ARTICLE IX MISCELLANEOUS

Section 1.

The adoption by the church of these bylaws shall repeal and replace all previously adopted versions of the bylaws.

Section 2.

The Pastor will maintain a copy of the current bylaws. A copy will be made available to any church member by request.
